DELINEATION OF AQUIFER POTENTIAL ZONES USING HYDRAULIC PARAMETERS IN SABO, EDO STATE.

ABSTRACT

This study was carried out to delineate potential aquifer zones using hydraulic parameters in Sabo, Edo state.In this study, four(4) vertical electrical sounding (VES) AB/2= 400m arranged in schlumberger configurations were conducted in the area of study.Hydraulic parameters like Transmissivity, Transverse resistance, hydraulic conductivity and longitudinal conductance were employed in characterization of aquifers and determining the protective capacity.The major sounding curves obtained in the study area are mostly HAA with the exception of VES 1 with HKH.The aquifer overburden capacity in the vicinity of VES 2,VES 3 and VES 4 were rated poor while the VES 1 was rated moderate.VES 1 and VES 4 has moderate potential of groundwater development.VES 2 and VES 3 were classified as having low potential of ground water development.
