Abstract

Spilanthes species I a genus from the family Asteracea. This study investigates the cellular structure, stomatal development, function and pollen morphology of Spilanthes acmella Murr. To understanding about its taxonomy, reproduction and evolution. Due to its pharmacological properties and its potential use in traditional medicine it has gathered attention in recent years. Cytomorphological studies were carried out on a specie, the leaf samples were collected measured and were used for studies of the stomata under microscope. The pollen samples were collected from the mature anther and were also used for studies. The result showed that the chromosomes during mitosis and meiosis were scattered and diffused. The leaves showed difference in structure, shape and size. The integration of Cytomorphology, stomatagenetics and palynology give a holistic view on the biology of Spilanthes species with application in various fields.
