CULTURALISM IN BEKEKELE BY CLEMENT ODIA AND SONG OF A GOAT BY JOHN PEPPER CLARK

Abstract

The African culture is built on morality and justice. With the development of human societies, most of these values have eroded. However, Africa still hold on to certain rules about life and how an individual’s action can affect the family and the community. The African culture also has its limitations as there is usually the tendency to delve into superstition. This work examines Clement Odia’s Bekekele and John Pepper Clark’s Song Of a Goat so as to reveal the sacredness of the African culture and it’s own limitations even as it explores the dramatic elements employed by both writers.
