ABSTRACT
The study "a critical evaluation of democracy in Nigeria in the light of Julius Nyerere Ujamaa" is explored from the lens of the present democratic situation in Nigeria. the study explored the democratic state of Nigeria, by exposing the challenges of her democracy and providing recommendations and also adopting ideologies in resolving this challenges the study was carried out using the analytical method. The study discovered that there is a high level of corruption and high level of interference in the judicial arm of government by the executive arm in Nigeria. The study also employed Julius Nyerere Ujamaa of socialism and equality in resolving the democratic challenge of the country. which has hinder parts of the Nigerian economic standard and development in The past. study also recommends that there should be a reform in the electoral system in the country.in order to elect the right people in office, which will to a large extent reduce corruption in the country. and lastly to strengthen the judicial arm of government to ensure there is effective separation of power and effective judgment. The study main aim is to reform Nigerian democratic system in order to strengthen democratic governance in the future.
