ABSTRACT

This paper aims to examine the effect of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) on Organisational performance, Corporate Reputation, and Customer Loyalty in the banking Industry in Nigeria. In order to actualize the objective of this study, Various theoretical and literature issues were discussed.

The population of the study was comprised of bank employees from four commercial banks from the University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria. The data was collected using questionnaires which were administered face to face to the respondents. A hundred (100) copies of the questionnaire were administered to the respondents, out of which eighty(80) were filled and retrieved for the purpose of presenting and analyzing responses to issues raised in the questionnaires. The method of analysis used for the questionnaires was a descriptive statistic, Pearson moment matrix, and linear regression.

The findings from the analysis of the study reveal that good CSR practices among banks will result in a significant positive relationship between Organizational performance and also a positive corporate reputation among the various stakeholders. It was also found that good CSR practices will also create strong positive customer loyalty among its customers. The study recommends among others that banks should maintain their strong CSR policies and practices; to ensure higher market share and income which leads to better organisational performance; Banks should use CSR as a strategy tool for marketing their products in order to achieve positive corporate reputation, and strong customer loyalty and satisfaction.
