ABSTRACT

 This work focuses on CONTEXT RESTRICTED USAGE OF ENUANI, this work examines the use of certain expressions or statements are restricted to certain context. It shows the inappropriateness of taboo expressions and prove that there is no such term as taboo expression but rather the expressions are determined by context using Enuani dialect as a case study.

 This work comprises of five chapters, chapter one makes an introductory note about what this work is all about, the Enuani people and language, previous studies and present study of this work, my motivation for this work, the method employed for this work, the statement of problem, and the purpose of this study and finally the significance of this study.

 Chapter two involves review of relevant literatures which include language use, factors that influence language use, taboo expressions, context and finally the theoretical framework employed for this work.

Chapter three and four entail analyzing this context restricted expressions which have been grouped under Age, Gender, and social interaction using Hymes (1974) SPEAKING model of communication to show its inappropriateness and then analyze the appropriate expression.

Chapter five which is the last chapter comprises of the summary, findings and recommendation for this work.
