Abstract

This study is on an investigation into consumers behaviour towards electronic banking in Nigeria. After a careful review of the literature, the problem of the research was that consumers do not have the necessary awareness and access towards the use of electronic products. Based on this the objective of this research which investigated the extent to which consumer have access and awareness towards the use of electronic banking in Nigeria. A descriptive and survey research was used in analyzing the research data. The sample of three hundred (300) customers of one old and new generation banks in Benin metropolis was analyzed. From this, four hypotheses were formulated. The hypotheses were analyzed using regression and correlation analysis techniques through statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) 16.0 software. The result shows that consumers attitude, level of awareness, and level of accessibility positively affect the adoption of electronic banking, while perceive risk negatively affect electronic banking adoption. Theoretical contributions and practical implication of the finding were discussed and suggestions for future research were presented.
