ABSTRACT
Clients' pressure and demand for better service and quality in the construction industry have pushed the sector to evolve designing and integrating more efficiently a method of meeting, improving, and possibly exceed its client's expectations and satisfaction and one of this method is Building Information Modeling. This research focuses on the assessment of construction consultants’ perception of clients’ satisfaction with BIM benefits in Edo state. The objectives are to: identify the benefit of BIM tools, determine the quality of BIM services rendered to clients, determine the level of satisfaction with the BIM benefits of using BIM tools and to access the metrics used in measuring clients’ satisfaction. Using descriptive method, data was collected through well-structured questionnaire. One-hundred and eighty- two (182) questionnaires were distributed and fifty – eight (58) questionnaires were retrieved. The data obtained from the research were analyzed using mean item score. The study established the benefit of BIM tools use with significant cost savings, time savings and waste reduction on the job site as the highest significant benefit, improved productivity as the most significant quality derived from BIM tools, improved productivity ranked first as the most significant client satisfaction with BIM service and primary performance criteria and timely project delivery ranked first as the most significant metrics for measuring client satisfaction. The study concludes that, improved productivity of construction project is the most significant benefit obtained from the implementation of BIM services. This implies that maximum satisfaction being obtained by a client is strongly attributed to the quality of BIM services employed during the course of a project delivery. However, this is to say that a client perception of satisfaction is first dependent on the quality of the BIM service used.
