CONFLICT RESOLUTION AND PEACE BUILDING IN INTRA – COMMUNAL CONFLICTS: THE CASE STUDY OF EZZA AND EZILLO, 1982 – 2012.

CONCLUSION

         This chapter draws a conclusion from the findings of the long essay on the communal conflicts between Ezza and her neighbour Ezillo in Ishielu Local Government of Ebonyi State. Based on research, it was discovered that the conflict the communal conflict dates back to about fifty two (52) years ago but resurfaced again with intensity on 8^th May, 2008 and thus, leading to mass killings in the area on February 19, 2010. The Ezillo community narrates that only 22 Ezza men were invited to come and live in Ezillo originally but that, as time went on, they started inviting their kins  from Onueke, in Ezza-South Local Government Area and began to occupy the extra portions of land that made both the Ezillo and Ezza to live  without clearly defined boundary. The conflict resurfaced on May 8^th, 2008 over an issue that seemed trivial but rather escalated to a more serious and bloody conflict which required the intervention of a third party from of the Governments ( Federal, State and Local ) and the community chiefs. It can be argued that without the intervention of the Government in the conflict, the conflict would have done more damages than it did in the first place.
