ABSTRACT
This research work examines compounding and affixation use in Esan language. Other studies have been done on affixation in Esan and Edo languages. This work intends to fill the gap of the proper documentation of compounding and affixation in Esan Language. The theoretical framework for this study is lexical morphology. The data analysis of this project is gotten from interviews, which is the primary data and books which is the secondary data. The findings of the study show how compound words and affixes is used in Esan. From the research it is shown that prefixation, circumfixation, compounding, blending and reduplication are all evident in the Esan language which responds to the research question on the existing patterns and nature of affixation in Esan language. In summary, this work proves that affixation and compounding processes are present in the Esan language.
