ABSTRACT

This study uses data from fourteen deposit money banks—Access Bank, ECO Bank, Fidelity Bank, First Bank, First City Monument Bank, Guarantee Trust Bank, Jaiz Bank, Stanbic IBTC Bank, Sterling Bank, Union Bank, United Bank for Africa, Unity Bank, Wema Bank, and Zenith Bank—to empirically explore the relationship between compliance and bank reputation in Nigeria from 2013 to 2020. The explanatory variables included the total number of infringements, the number of unsolved complaints, the total amount of litigation claims, the number of penalties and fines paid for violations, and the total amount claimed for unresolved complaints. The relationship between these elements of compliance and bank reputation was particularly assessed using the least square panels method.
