This study examines the contributions of prominent women to the socio-economic and political development of the ancient Benin Kingdom, a case study of Queen Iden, Queen Idia, Emotan, the specific objectives discuss the socio-economic and political structure of Ancient Benin Kingdom from 14th -18th century, the historical background of ancient Benin Kingdom, the role prominent women played to the socio-economic and political development in the Benin Kingdom, and the factors that militated against the effectiveness of the prominent women to the development of Benin Kingdom.
