ABSTRACT
This comparative study investigates the impact of fractions derived from two indigenous plants, Spondias mombin and Detarium microcarpium, on hematological parameters and total bilirubin levels in Swiss albino mice. Hematological parameters, including red blood cell count, hemoglobin levels, platelet count, and white blood cell count, serve as vital indicators of overall health and immune function. Total bilirubin levels, on the other hand, provide insights into liver function and potential hepatoprotective effects. In this study, 5 groups were used; Group 1 served as the control, Group 2 and Group 4 were administered 250mg/kg of Spondias mombin and Detarium microcarpium respectively, Group 3 and Group 5 were administered 500mg/kg of Spondias mombin and Detarium microcarpium respectively. The fractions were administered to the mice for 14 days and their effects on hematological parameters and total bilirubin were assessed.
