ABSTRACT
This study compares two coagulants: Alum Based Coagulant and Eggshell Coagulant used for optimum removal of dye from textile wastewater. The adsorbent were grind into powered form, and the adsorptive capability for the removal of dye was determined by optimizing the process parameters (adsorbent dosage, settling time, and agitation speed) using a magnetic stirrer. The pH, turbidity, conducting and Colour was carried out before and after the adsorption studies. From the results, a maximum adsorption capacity of 98.5 % was obtained at the optimized conditions of 10 g, 15min, 30min and 275 rpm for adsorbent dose, flocculation time, settling time and agitation speed respectively.The experimental predetermined optimal pH 11.38, turbidity (16.9) conductivity (18341), and turbid Colour were recorded for Eggshell Coagulant, while pH 5.58, turbidity (01.1) , conductivity (16630), Colour (<5) were reported for Alum. The results obtained show that; Alum maintained significantly higher Colour remover for wastewater treatment.
