ABSTRACT

This study determined the impact of communication on organizational performance in Nigeria Specifically the objective of the study examined the relationship between communication channel (CC),communication type (CT), communication process (CP) and organizational performance in Benin City.

The study reviewed relevant works of several authors. The study used the descriptive survey research design by administering copies of structured questionnaires to 200 employees in Edo State Board of Internal Revenue in Benin City. The data for the study were analyzed using both descriptive statistics such as simple percentages, and mean while inferential statistics (linear regression) was used with the help of Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 22 to test the research hypotheses.

The findings of the study revealed that communication significantly impact and predicts organizational performance by 66.3%. The study also found out that there is a significant relationship between communication channel (CC), communication type (CT) and communication process (CP) with organizational performance in Benin City.

The study recommended that management of organization must ensure that there is free flow of information sharing, and constant feedback communication between staff and between staff and management in order for them to effectively communicate their problems towards completing a task and receive ideas on how to complete it by other colleagues, or share their thoughts and ideas and concerns of their work with one another and the management in order for effective decision making
