ABSTRACT
Some scholars have always asked the question about the value of human life, more importantly are human beings special? To give an affirmative answer to this question and to believe in the preservation of human species as against war and destruction captures the essence of humanism. Competing ideologies have proposed ways or patterns of achieving this humanistic tenets, communalism is one of them, this research work examines the basic tenets of humanism, through the lens of Kenneth Kaunda, and argues that Kaunda’s humanism is communalistic. This work examines the humanistic tenets of Kaunda’s philosophy and argues that same can be applied to Nigeria in particular and the world at large by affirming the need to go beyond nepotism, corruption, war (the list is endless). This work adopts the method of critical analysis.
