SUMMARY
This Research work has been to explain what Characterization is, it has also been able to simplify the two methods of Characterization used by Kunle Mamudu in his book: The Beauty Of Madness and Chimeka Garrick's A Broken people's playlist. It has been established that Explicit and Implicit method of characterization were used, by these amazing authors in their story. The three dimensions of characters, which includes the first dimension, second dimension and third dimension of characters were also critically examined and integrated into types of characters. It was Observed that the Explicit Characterization is what we popularly called the Direct characterization, it occurs when an author describes a character in a straightforward manner, as if telling the reader directly who the character is. It is a verbal statement that ostensibly attributes a trait or a property to a character who may be either the speaker him or herself (auto characterisation) or some other character (alter characterisation). This method of characterization is usually based on a descriptive statement that identifies, categorises, individualises, and evaluates a person. Characterising judgment can refer to external, internal, or habitual traits (Chima is a poor ugly young fellow.) An explicit characterisation is mainly defined as being one that is meant and understood to be verbal characterisation.
