Summary

The aim of this study was to examine challenges of small and medium scale enterprises (SMES) in 21^st century.

In particular, the following specific findings were made from the empirical analysis is summarized below:

(i)      The result showed that poor financing is negatively affecting performance of SMEs in the 21st century.

(ii)     Inadequate social infrastructures is negatively affecting performance of SMEs in the 21st Century.

(iii)    Lack of managerial skills directly affect the performance of SMEs in the 21st Century.

(iv)   Multiple taxation directly affect the performance of SMEs in the 21st Century.

(v)   Technological innovations directly affect the performance in the 21st Century.
