ABSTRACT
The study assessed the Challenges of ICT Faced by Business Education Students in Achieving their Academic Programmes in Public Universities in Edo State. This research delves into the challenges faced by Business Education students in public universities in Edo State, particularly concerning their academic programmes. The primary objective of this study was to determine the factors challenging to students' academic programmes as regards the use of ICT resources in Business Education in these institutions. Three research questions guided the investigation. The literature review was conducted, categorizing previous research into relevant subheadings to provide a comprehensive understanding of the subject. The research design employed for this study was descriptive survey, with a total population of 350 Business Education students, comprising 200 students from the University of Benin and 150 from Ambrose Ali University. A sample size of 200 students was selected for data collection using a validated and reliable questionnaire. Data analysis involved means, and standard deviations. The findings disclosed that students in Business Education are expected to utilize ICT resources for their programmes and they often encounter challenges carrying out these academic programmes, problem like inadequate Power supply to power ICT devices, lack of internet enabled devices to be used for effective teaching and utilization. Moreover the research also identified some main strategies to help overcome those challenges of ICT faced by students in Business Education, strategies that can be used in teaching and learning in Business Education which will promote and enhance effectiveness in Business education programmes, these are internet enabled devices and advanced ICT resources. Based on these findings, the study recommends that Business Education Students in Public Universities should be given adequate ICT resources and they should have complete access to them.
