ABSTRACT
The evolution of academic libraries in Nigeria amid the 21st-century digital landscape presents both opportunities and challenges. This research investigates the challenges faced by academic libraries in Nigeria, particularly in adapting to digital technologies and leveraging internet resources. Using a survey research design, data was collected from academic librarians, library users, and stakeholders at the University of Benin and other academic institutions in Edo State, Nigeria. The study reveals critical insights into the state of academic libraries, highlighting challenges related to technological infrastructure, internet connectivity, digital literacy, and funding constraints. Findings underscore the urgent need for investments in modern technological infrastructure, capacitybuilding, programmes for digital literacy, effective stakeholder collaborations, and transparent financial management practices. This research contributes to the field by providing empirical evidence and suggesting actionable recommendations for enhancing academic library services in Nigeria, with the ultimate aim to support teaching, learning, and research endeavors in the digital age.
