ABSTRACT
This study investigated the challenges faced by adult students in Sandwiched programme in Nigerian universities. To this end, four research questions were raised to guide the study. One was directly answered, while three were hypothesized. The population of the study comprise of 1000 Sandwich students’ of 2022/2023 academic session in University of Benin. It covers 100 level to 400 level students in the Faculty of Education, University of Benin. The simple random sampling technique was used to select 100 students from the total population. Questionnaire titled Adult Educational Sandwiched Programme. The questionnaire consisted of two sections A&B. Section A was used to enlist demographic information, while Section B was used to collect information about the variables of study. Descriptive statistics such as percentage, mean statistic and t-test was used to answer the research questions and to test hypothesis. Findings of the study revealed that level of challenges faced by adult students in sandwich programme in Nigerian Universities is moderate. It was seen that there is no significant difference in the mean rating of male and female students of challenges of adult students in sandwiched programme in Nigerian universities. It was seen that a positive correlation between academic challenges and sandwiched and regular education programme and the magnitude of the relationship is high and strong, it was discovered the level of locational challenges faced by adult students in sandwiched programme in Nigerian universities is moderate, which further confirmed. From the study the following recommendation were made efficient educational system should be worked on for the adult students in Sandwiched programme in Nigerian University. Gender sensitive policy should be drafted to mitigate the challenges of adult student in Sandwiched programme in Nigerian university.
