ABSTRACT
Cadmium (Cd) levels were determined in the soils of selected motor parks in Benin – City and analyzed in the laboratory using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (SOLAAR969UNICAM SERIES). A total number of 28 soil samples were collected from 14 different motorparks in Benin – City and 2 control soil samples from a community called Iyowa in August 2023 this brings about 30 total soil samples. The selected motor parks were group into three(3) stations with the following Cd concentration mean values in the order of observed mean Cd concentrations. Station A: Oluku 0.09 mg/kg > Uniben 0.08 mg/kg > Odighi 0.07mg/kg Ugbowo 0.01 mg/kg. Station B: Uselu 0.28 mg/kg > Iyare 0.23 mg/kg > Muyi Line 0.18mg/kg > Ring road 0.05 mg/kg. In station C: Lawarsi 0.19 mg/kg > Agip 0.13 mg/kg >Ameosa0.06 mg/kg > New Benin 0.06 mg/kg same mean concentration with Ameisa). In station A, the least mean value was found at Ugbowo motor park, while the highest mean value was found at Oluku motor park. In station B, the least mean value was found at Ring road motor park while the highest mean value was found at Uselu motor park. In station C, least value was found at Ameosa and New Benin motor parks while the highest was found at Lawarsi motor park.
