ABSTRACT
The focus of this study was to examine the BVAS and vote buying in 2023 presidential election in Nigeria, an assessment of its impact on electorate in Egor Local government area of Edo state. The findings from the respondent reveal that Vote-buying is primarily caused by the desperation of political candidates to win elections, the lack of viable alternative candidates contributes to the prevalence of vote-buying, socioeconomic factors, such as poverty and unemployment, drive voters to accept money for their votes, inadequate voter education and awareness about the importance of their votes leads to votebuying, and weak law enforcement and the lack of prosecution for vote-buying offenses enable its persistence.
