A multi stage sampling technique was used to select respondents for the study. 30% sampling intensity was taken from the sample population Using a stratified random sampling technique to collect data from three Local Government Areas (Egor Oredo and Ikpoba-okha) to obtain a sample size of 200 respondents for the study. 155 questionnaires were retrieved from the respondents. Data collected were analysed using descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation.

The result showed that 64.52% of the respondents were male and married. The respondents are literate and had formal education. 40.65% of them fall within the age  of 43-52 years. 74.84% of the sampled respondents are aware of the concept of urban forestry and it importance. Poor funding of the urban forestry sector, inadequate land use plan and poor government policies are believed to be the major challenges of urban forestry in the study area.
