ABSTRACT
This research examines the perception of audience perception of gender stereotype. This study was conducted to investigate the reception of gender stereotype depicted in movies portraying domestic violence. The survey method was adopted using a research instrument of both interview and questionnaire. The research posits that film producers do not lay emphases on the resolution of the problem to the fight against domestic violence rather emphasizes are made on the societal gender stereotype. The study established different perception between audience and film makers towards domestic violence portrayal in Nollywood.
