ABSTRACT
The study assessed the attitude of special and regular teachers of cooperate teaching in special schools in Benin metropolis". To guide the study, three (3) research questions were raised and one (1) hypothesis formulated. The design of the study was a survey design. The population of this study comprises of all 734 regular teachers and special teachers teaching distributed across in special school in Benin City the sample of the study consist of five special schools within Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria, a total of 100 special and regular teachers were sampled. Random sampling method was used for data collection from teachers. The data was collected with the use of well-structured questionnaire, the reliability of the research items was tested using Cronbach alpha analysis, the alpha values yielded .613 alpha value. The retrieved data were using descriptive statistics such as mean and standard deviation while hypothesis was tested using t-test of independent samples. The hypothesis was tested at 0.05 level of significant. The findings of the study revealed that both regular and special teachers have positive attitude towards cooperative teaching in special education settings, the findings also depicted that there is no significant difference between the attitude of special and regular teachers towards cooperative teaching. To foster more positive attitudes among regular and special teachers towards cooperative teaching in special education settings, among the several recommendations, the researcher recommended that more professional development programs should be organized by education stakeholders, the training should emphasize the benefits of collaboration and equip teachers with practical skills for effective co-teaching.
