Abstract
This study was designed to ascertain the integration of the Attitudes and perceptions of senior secondary school students in the implementation of inclusive education in ihogbe college benin city.Five (5) research questions were formulated to guide the study.
The study adopted a descriptive survey. The total population of special teachers in Oredo L.G.A is 50 Student’s from One (1) schools for special needs children, public secondary schools in the sampled area. A total number of 50 Student’s made up the population of the study. The random sampling technique was used to select the respondents for this study. The research instrument for the study was a Questionnaire titled: “Attitudes and perceptions of senior secondary school students in the implementation of inclusive education in ihogbe college benin city.(APSSSSIIIE)”, which was distributed to the respondents and collected immediately after completion from respondents. The simple percentage and mean score was used in computing the responses of the questionnaire items. To account for the reliability of the study, the Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation Coefficient was used which gave a value of 0.712.
At the end of the study, 0.602 was obtained for the attitudes and perception of students towards their peers with special needs in ihogbe college, 0.712 for the implementation of Inclusive education strategies influence the Attitudes and perceptions of senior secondary school students towards their peers with special needs,0.881 for the specific challenges faced by teachers in effectively implementing Inclusive education practices to support students with special needs ,0.811 for what extent do resource constraints affect the quality and effectiveness of Inclusive education programs at Ihogbe College, 0.701. indicating that the instrument is reliable. The findings underscore the importance of robust training and support systems in empowering teachers to effectively support students with special needs
