ABSTRACT

From generation to generation and place to place, people express certain attitudes towards languages especially theirs in relation to other people’s languages. This research consequently studied teenagers’ attitudes towards the learning and speaking of Ezi in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State. John Broadus Watson’s Behaviorist theory was employed in the interpretations of responses obtained with questionnaires. It is discovered that teenagers in Aniocha North L.G.A showed negative attitudes towards Ezi because of their preference for English. It is therefore recommended that appropriate authorities should put in place modalities that will encourage the learning and speaking of Ezi. One of such modalities is to organize competitions and debates in Ezi with impressive rewards for those who do well in terms of speaking Ezi.
