ABSTRACT

This study investigated  the  soil quality indicators under different land uses in a selected rural-urban fringe in Edo state, Nigeria. The study sought to evaluate the soil physiochemical and biological properties of the soils among the examined  land uses and the implications of each land use type on soil properties. Soil samples were collected from nine  study sites from the rural urban fringe (Egbean, Iguadolor, Uhogua communities). Soil samples were collected from mechanic workshop ,secondary forest, block mounding, oil palm production mill ,firewood processing, cassava farm, back house farm, gas plant and oil palm plantation at depth (0-15cm). Soil samples were analysed for selected physiochemical and biological indicators using standard laboratory procedures.
