ABSTRACT
This study assesses the utilization of information and communication technology for adult with disabilities in Egor Local Government Area. Five (5) research questions were raised to guide the study. The sample size of one hundred and fifty (150) adults’ learners with disabilities selected from the five (5) adult education centres in Egor Local Government Area where used for the study. The major instrument used for this study was the questionnaire. The questionnaire was designed and validated by experts in the Department of Adult and Non-Formal Education, Faculty of Education, University of Benin. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques such as tables, frequencies counts, and simple percentages. Findings of the study revealed that the type of ICT available for education programme for adults with disabilities are; Adult Braille Printer, Video magnifier, audio player/recorder and text to audio converter. It was further revealed that the use of ICT in teaching and learning has helped to reduce the attrition rate among adult participants with disabilities, helped in the effective keeping of appropriate records of adult learners with disabilities. It was recommended that the facilitators need to be constantly trained and retrained on the use of ICT for delivery of learning for adults with disabilities in the area. It was further recommended that Adult education centres should be properly funded so that there will be enough ICTs tools for the delivery of instruction for adults with disabilities in the area.
