ABSTRACT
The study is designed to access the strategies to widening women participation in skill development programmes in Oredo local government area of zero State. The survey research design was used. The instrument used was questionnaire titled "Strategies for Widening Women’s Participation in Skill Development Programmes”. In carrying out this study, one hundred (100) respondents were drawn from the area through the use of simple random sampling technique. The instrument used for the study was the questionnaire derived from four research questions. It contained twenty five items dealing the views and opinions of respondents. The research instrument was validated by experts in the department of adult and Non-formal education, including the project supervisor. The reliability index obtained from the instrument was 0.74. A simple percentage and frequency count was used to analyze the collected data. Based on this findings, it was recommended that; The women should be given proper orientation on the necessity of skill development programmes through the use of targeted awareness campaigns, mass media and other available means and the government should show more dedication on skill development programmes by providing incentives and reduced cost of trainings, and maintaining existing skill development centres in the local government area, hence bringing the programmes closer to the people and enhancing their participation.
