The study assessed the strategies for the integration of e-learning in promoting effective teaching and learning in University of Benin. In order to achieve the objectives of the study, five research questions to guide the study. Descriptive survey research design was adopted by the study. The population of this study comprised of all the academic staff and students of Faculty of Education, University of Benin with a total population of academic staff both male and female was found to be One Hundred and Ninety Two (192) in total. The sample size of the study was a total of 120 respondents. The respondents was 40 for the staff and 80 for the student respectively. The sample will be selected using a stratified and a simple random sampling technique. Two types of questionnaires was designed for the study. The first questionnaire was titled: Strategies for the Integration of E-learning Questionnaire (SIEQ). While the second one is titled: Assessment of Strategies for the Integration of Elearning for Teaching and Learning Questionnaire (ASIETLQ). Each of the instrument contained 10 items each, constructed to provide answers for the research raised to guide the study. The questionnaire was designed using a 4 point rating scale. The instrument was validated by the project supervisor and two other lecturers in the faculty. The reliability of the instrument was determined using the internal consistency reliability. In doing this, the instrument was administered to a sample of 20 respondents who were not part of the final study's sample. After computation, a Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of 0.71. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The study found that Students in University of Benin relatively disliked the current lecture method of teaching and learning being adopted in the institution and the level of technological readiness among faculty members at the University of Benin is relatively low and it appears that a large number of the faculty members are not yet technologically prepared to fully embrace e-learning among others. Based on the findings of the study, the study recommended among others: That the university should establish adequate computer laboratories facilities for the students’ use, establish its own cybercafés to provide the students with access to e-learning information sources at subsidized prices, regular and periodic training for teachers to adequately equipped them to use learners centered methods to arouse and solidify students interest in the instructional process among others.
