Lead, highly toxic even at low levels, causes irreversible developmental and behavioral issues, oxidative stress, and kidney damage. Cadmium enters the body through inhalation or ingestion, leading to kidney problems, bone diseases, and cancer. A total 25 albino wister rats weith weight ranging from 100-200g were purchased and kept in wooden cages. The peels from the fresh avocado fruit was seperated manually from the pulp and air dried for a period of 3 weeks until they become cripsy. The cripsy peel was incubated at 40-450c for about 2 hours then grinded to fine powder.The animals were placed in groups of 5 containing 5 animals in each group. Group I was given distilled water, Group II was administered lead and cadmium mixture, Group III was given lead acetate (30mg/kg), cadmium chloride mixture (15mg/kg) and zinc as standard (25mg/kg), Group IV was given Ethanolic Persea americana (Avocado) peel (75mg/kg) and group V (Persea americana (avocado) Peels (100mg/kg) for 28 days and the animals were weighed at weekly intervals. After the period of administration, the animals were humanely sacrificed and the Kidney harvested. The analysis carried out includes heavy metal analysis, Antioxidant analysis and biochemical analysis of the biomakers of the kidney as well as lipid peroxidation. At the end of the experiments, the study shows that avocado peel extract significantly reduced the level of lead and cadmium in the blood, faeces and kidney when compared with lead and cadmium group and control group. In conclusion, we say that advocado peel extract can be used to reduce toxicity of cadmium and lead in the kidney.
