ASSESSMENT OF THE LEVEL OF INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIAL UTILIZATION FOR TEACHING ECONOMICS IN PUBLIC SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN OVIA NORTH EAST LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF EDO STATE.

ABSTRACT

This study evaluates the extent to which instructional resources are used in Economics instruction at public secondary institutions in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State. To facilitate this, four research questions were formulated and addressed. A sample of 100 instructors was randomly selected from the 20 public secondary institutions in Ovia North East Local Government Area. A questionnaire gathered the data. The study employed a descriptive survey design. Data analysis utilized mean scores, with a cut-off point of 2.50 for inclusion.

The investigation revealed a high degree of instructor utilization of instructional aids in Economics instruction across public senior secondary schools in Edo State's Ovia North East Local Government Area. There was a high proportion of male, female, experienced, and inexperienced instructors who used instructional aids in Economics instruction. Among the recommendations made was that the government ensure a sufficient supply of instructional resources, such as graphs, worksheets, charts, diagrams, textbooks, and audio and visual materials.
