ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study is to investigate the Influence of Web Apps on Basic Science Teacher’s’ Instruction, a case study of senior secondary schools in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo state. A descriptive survey research design was employed in this study. Four(4) research questions were raised to guide the study. The target population was two hundred and fifty (250) teachers from ten (10) junior secondary schools in Oredo local government area , and sample size of fifty (50) basic science teachers from the ten (10) junior secondary schools in Oredo local government area, was selected using simple random sampling techniques.A structured questionnaire was used for data collection. The questionnaire was validated by the researcher's supervisor and two other experts in the Department of Curriculum and Instructional Technology while the test- re test reliability method was adopted to ascertain the reliability of the instrument. Data collected were analyzed using mean and standard deviation. The study reveals that the influence of web apps in basic science education enhances engagement and collaborative learning. Despite benefits, challenges like connectivity issues and unfamiliar platforms persist. Teachers need to provide adequate support to address these issues effectively. Findings underscore the importance of web apps in promoting active learning and knowledge construction. However, it's crucial to address challenges such as internet connectivity and platform usability to maximize their effectiveness in the classroom.Based on the findings of the study, the following recommendations were made for the study: Government should invest in infrastructure for reliable internet access in schools and provide funding for the acquisition of necessary technological tools.Teachers should receive training on web app integration, pedagogical strategies, and ongoing technical support to effectively use technology in teaching.Ministry of Education should develop clear guidelines for integrating web apps into the curriculum, ensuring alignment with educational objectives and providing continuous professional development for educators. There should collaboration between government, teachers, and the Ministry of Education to create a supportive environment for successful implementation and utilization of web apps in education.
