ABSTRACT
Circadian cycle also referred to as circadian rhythm is the natural and internal procedures that controls the regulation of sleep-wake cycle and is repeated every 24 hours. This study investigates the assessment of the effect of Vitamin B complex and Vitamin C supplementation on Ovary during altered circadian cycle using female Rat models. Female virgin Sprague-dawley rats within the weight range of (100-240g) and aged 3-4 months were used, the animals were acclimatized and placed under test for 14days after which the animals that passed the test of oestrous stage were grouped into four groups namely: Negative control group which were administered 0.2ml of normal saline and placed under normal light and dark cycle, Positive control group which were administered 0.2ml normal saline, Vitamin C group and Vitamin B group that were placed under 12hours altered light and day cycle for 21 days. After 21days the animals were sacrificed and the ovary was harvested and placed in Boin’s fluid before analysis. The result shows slight significance difference in the negative control group and Vitamin B complex, but no significant difference was observed in the Vitamin C group as compared to the Positive control group. However, further research is advised to fully establish the mechanism of activity of these Vitamins on the influence of altered light and dark cycle.
