ABSTRACT
The study assessed climate change information sources among cocoa farmers in Ovia North East Local Government Area, Edo State Nigeria. Data were collected through well structured questionnaire and interview schedule from Ninety five (95) cocoa farmers in the study area. Data collected were analyzed using both descriptive (frequency counts, percentage and mean) and standard deviation, and hypotheses tested using Pearson product moment Correlation (PPMC).The study showed that the majority (64.2%) of the farmers in the study area were females, it was also revealed that cocoa farmers result indicates that respondents were relatively young. The study further revealed that the higher proportion (45.3%) in the study area belong to cocoa farmers association. Data analysis also revealed that respondents in the study area prefer television (2.44) and radio (1.60) as source of information. Distance from extension service was the most serious constrain of farmers in the study area (x=3.45). Household size (r=0.38,P<0.05) Farm size (r= 0.32,P<0.05) were significantly related to respondents’ access to information channels. Study recommended that there is need to improve the communication of climate change information to farmers in the study state so as to ensure optimum output in cocoa production in the study area.
