SUMMARY

Six (6) FGD sessions (3 male and 3 female groups) were conducted, 1 in each school. Each FGD consisted of 7 participants and there were representatives selected from each class. Males and females aged 10 to 19 years were eligible to participate. Under the researcher's guidance, the class teachers helped with organizing the groups. FGDs were performed privately and without the presence of class teachers. An empty classroom was separated for the FGD session. Besides the researcher who fostered and motivated dynamic group interaction throughout the discussion, research assistants were present to take voice recordings with consent, and also take notes of non-verbal communication. At the onset of each FGD, participants were queried about their demographic details and guided into the discussion using a semi-structured guide containing questions pertaining to specific themes. The FGD guide is presented in Annex 4. Flexibility was maintained to introduce new questions during the discussions until data saturation was attained. The FGDs varied in duration, lasting between 45 and 60 minutes each and did not exceed the time allotted by the principal.
