ABSTRACT
The study of assessing the effectiveness of different approaches to waste management in Benin City reveals the purpose to identify the most effective methods for managing waste, reducing environmental impacts, and improving public health. A descriptive research design was adopted for this study, focusing on both qualitative and quantitative data. The population of the study includes all qualified individual living in Benin City. A sample size of 100 respondents was selected through stratified random sampling to ensure a representative distribution across different demographic and sector. The research instrument used was a selfstructured questionnaire tagged. The validity of the instrument was established through the project supervisor and two other experts in the Department of Health Safety and Environmental Education Faculty of Education University of Benin, ensuring the constructed questionnaire was confirm content validity. The test retest method was used to determine the reliability of the instrument. The data were analyzed using mean and standard deviation percentage to compute the data from the research. The finding revealed that the community-based recycling programs and public-private partnerships emerged as the most effective strategies, demonstrating high levels of waste reduction and improved environmental and public health outcomes. Based on the findings, it is recommended that Benin City invests in expanding these successful models, enhances public awareness programs, and implements stricter regulations to ensure compliance and sustainability in waste management practices.
