ABSTRACT
Medicinal preparations known as polyherbal formulations are made by combining many different herbs or botanical components. They are created by combining several therapeutic plant mixes. As a result, they have a variety of bioactive ingredients that work together in the formulation to enhance therapeutic efficacy. The study aims to evaluate the aphrodisiac effectiveness of the poly-herbal-formulated tea . In this experiment, 20 male rats were divided into 5 groups of 4 rats in each group. Group 1 received distilled water; groups 2 and 3 received 5mg/kg and 10mg/kg of an aqueous extract of tea respectively; group 4 received 5 mg/kg of sildenafil; and group 5 received 20 mg/kg of carbamazepine orally for 14 days. Testosterone levels were assessed in addition to the mating and orientational behavior of each rat.The results demonstrate that 5mg/kg of aqueous extract of the polyherbal tea and 5 mg/kg of sildenafil enhances the mount frequency and intromission frequency when compared to water control and Carbamazepine (p<0.01). For ejaculation, 5mg/kg of the aqueous extract and 5 mg/kg of sildenafil increased the ejaculatory frequency while only 5mg/kg of the aqueous extract caused increase in ejaculatory latency when compared to water control and carbamazepine (**p<0.01; *p< 0.05). and 5 mg/kg of sildenafil significantly increased the number of anogenital sniffing, licking, and genital grooming when compared to water control (**p<0.01; *p< 0.05). For the testosterone analysis, 20mg/kg of carbamazepine, 10mg/kg of the aqueous extract and 5 mg/kg of sildenafil increased testosterone levels when compared to water control and 5mg/kg of the aqueous extract (**p<0.01; *p< 0.05).
