ABSTRACT
The study was designed to examine Anticorruption Drive and Public Service Productivity in Nigeria: An Assessment of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Edo State. The objectives of the study includes the following; to examine the extent to which the anticorruption drive of the EFCC has reduced corrupt practices in the public service, to assess the impact of the EFCC's anticorruption efforts on public service productivity, to identify the challenges faced by the EFCC in it's anticorruption drive towards public service productivity and to provide recommendations for improving the effectiveness of the anticorruption drive and enhancing public service productivity in Edo State, Nigeria. The study adopted survey research design. The population of study of this research is made up of staffs of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Edo State. The sample size of this study is 79 drawn from the EFCC, Edo State. The instrument used for the collection of data was the questionnaire which was administered to the study sampled respondents. The data collected was analysed using simple percentage. The study found out amongst others that the EFCC has effectively reduced the number of corrupt practices in the public service. Furthermore, policy recommendations were were adopted which include amongst others that, the federal government should be committed to the sincere translation of the expressed political will of fighting corruption into reality by allowing the anti-corruption institutions to operate without political intervention in order not to compromise with their statutorily assigned responsibilities.
