ABSTRACT

The annual weed, Datura  stramonium L. (Solanaceae) can be found in the majority of the world's temperate and subtropical climates. Humans occasionally experience digestive upset. Sometimes, it might be confusing to know the difference between when the Gastrointestinal symptoms are a temporary inconvenience and when they’re indicative of a digestive disorder. Datura Stramoniumwas collected between October and December 2021 from Ekosodin village. Phytochemical studies and Acute Toxicity was carried out using standard procedure. Result from the acute toxicity showed that LD₅₀ was greater than 1000 mg/kg(LD₅₀ > 1000 mg/kg). Phytochemical studies revealed the extract to possess vital phytochemical of therapeutic effect. Anti-ulcer studies, using Ethanol/Hcl and Indomethacin-induced Ulcer showed that Aqueous extracts of Datura stramonium whole plant was able to protect the animals against peptic ulcer, as compared to the untreated group induced with ulcer.
