ABSTRACT

This study tends to examine the fight against corruption and effective public service delivery in Nigeria: A case study of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC). The objectives of the study were; to examine the extent EFCC fight against corruption has impacted effective service delivery in Nigeria, to ascertain how workforce capacity building at EFCC has impacted the fight against corruption vis a vis effective service delivery in Nigeria, to examine the challenges facing EFCC in combating corruption and ensuring effective service delivery in Nigeria, and to proffer necessary solutions to surmounting the challenges faced by EFCC in combating corruption for effective service delivery in Nigeria. In the study methodology, the study adopts the survey research design, the The population of the study includes the total number of staff in the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), Benin office which is estimated at 213. The sampling technique used for this study is the stratified and probability sampling technique. Also, questionnaire was used as an instrument of data collection, while the techniques of data analysis was the simple percentage analytical method. The study found amongst others that, corruption had an impact on effective service delivery in EFCC. Furthermore, policy recommendations were adopted which include amongst others that, a conscious effort at curbing corruption and malpractices at EFCC should be encouraged, penalties for defaulters should be duly meted.
