Diabetes mellitus is a condition characterized by hypoglycemia. Its main symptoms is high blood sugar levels caused by deficiency in insulin secretion. With the rising amount of people afflicted with this decease, efficient treatment options are being considered. In different parts of the world, plants have been used traditionally in the treatment of various diseases, diabetes included. The aim of this study was to evaluate the anti-diabetic property of the polyherbal extract in diabetic rats. After the needed plants were sourced, they were washed, dried, blended and mixed with saline solution to form an aqueous extract. STZ was prepared using 4.5 pH citrate buffer at 0.1 M concentration. Eighteen rats were split into 6 groups including untreated group, treated group (polyherbal extract) and the positive control (Glibenclamide). The rats were fasted and blood sugar levels were obtained for days 0, 3 and 7 after graded doses of the polyherbal extract and the positive control treatment. The results of this study showcased the inhibitory effect of the polyherbal extract in diabetic rats across graded doses when compared with the untreated group. Finally, the findings of the study revealed that the extract possesses a significant anti-diabetic property.
