ABSTRACT
This research work is centred on “Anti-Corruption Campaign and Sustainable Development in Nigeria’’ with a case study of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari between 2015 and 2019. The key objective of this research work is to highlight the anti-corruption campaigns as created and embarked upon by President Muhammadu Buhari, the effects of such campaigns and the degree of success those campaigns have achieved. The study adopted a survey research design and enrolled 400 participants in the study. The responses from all 400 participants were received and validated from the enrolled participants where all respondents were drawn from residents of Benin City between the ages of 16 and 65. Findings from the study revealed that it is widely believed that corruption is an epidemic and one of the major long-standing problems affecting the Nigerian society and economy. The study also reveals that the Federal government of Nigeria has been fighting corruption for a long time and that the Buhari administration of 2015 implemented three major policies geared towards eradicating corruption; the Bank Verification Number policy, the Whistle-blower policy and the Treasury Single Account. The results of the study revealed that these three policies have been largely successful in clamping down corruption in Nigeria. However, the findings of the study revealed that the Buhari administration has over time slacked off in its fight against corruption. The study therefore recommends that his administration should renew its efforts in the fight against corruption beginning by addressing the issues that are present in the current policies such as safety for potential whistle-blower.
