ABSTRACT
This study was carried out to analyze gender differences in mathematics programmes at the University of Benin. The goal was to pinpoint areas of inequality and offer suggestions for advancing gender equality. This study specifically intends to close the gender gap (if any) that still exists in mathematics programmes. The study used a quantitative design and was directed at all University of Benin undergraduate students enrolled in mathematics programmes .The population of the study comprised of all undergraduate students from 100 level to 400 level enrolled in mathematics courses such as mathematics education, industrial Mathematics, Mathematics and economics, pure and Applied Mathematics at the University of Benin during the specified five-year period with a total of 2,339 students. A proforma was used for data collation. Comparative analysis, data visualization, and descriptive and inferential statistics were all part of the data analysis process. Significant findings showed that there are gender differences in mathematics programmes, with men predominating in enrollment. Therefore it should be recommended that putting gendersensitive procedures into practice, awarding scholarships, and serving as mentors and role models for female students would help bridge the gap.
