ABSTRACT
This research has demonstrated the effective teaching strategies in teaching literacy skills in Ovia North East Secondary schools. Effective strategies have a significant impact on academic performance of students and also shapes students attitude owards the English language and their ability to communicate effectively. Effective teaching strategies help students in making literacy process interesting. It improves student's confidence and encourage them to practice their literacy skills. This also gives students the opportunity for their mistakes to be corrected.
