AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE CAUSATIVE FACTORS OF ABANDON BUILDINGS IN PUBLIC ESTATES IN BENIN CITY

ABSTRACT

Abandoned buildings in public estates represent a pressing urban issue with far-reaching social, economic, and environmental implications. This research study investigates the causative factors contributing to the proliferation of abandoned buildings in public housing estates. The aim of this research is to gain a comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted dynamics leading to the abandonment of residential and commercial structures in these areas. Through a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods, this study examines a diverse range of factors that influence the abandonment of buildings in public estates. Factors under scrutiny include economic conditions, property management practices, social demographics, and environmental influences. The study employs surveys, interviews, and data analysis to collect and assess information from both residents and property stakeholders within selected public estates.
