ABSTRACT

This project research provides an introductory exploration into the fundamentals of plasma physics, with a particular focus on two key concepts: Debye shielding and plasma frequency. This project begins by elucidating the basic properties of plasma, its formation and its significance in astrophysics, fusion research and industrial applications. Subsequently, it delves into the concept of Debye shielding which describes the phenomenon where charged particles in a plasma shield each other from electric fields. Theoretical foundations and practical implications of Debye shielding are discussed. Furthermore, this project investigates the plasma frequency, a characteristic frequency associated with the collective oscillations of charged particles in a plasma. Theoretical derivations of plasma frequency are presented along with its importance in understanding wave propagation, electromagnetic interactions and plasma diagnostics. Overall, this project serves as a foundational resource for students and researchers interested in plasma physics, offering insights into the complex behavior of plasmas and the essential principles of Debye shielding and plasma frequency.
