ABSTRACT

This essay exposes the exploration of leadership representation of post independence Africa. A close examination of Gilbert Ebinyo Ogbowei's The Heedless Ballot Box and other poems reveals the poets disappointment in the policy of the post independence Africa. In line with this, the post colonial theory forms the base of this study. Through the texts, we can find the issue of corruption and bad leadership, subjugation and marginalization, deprivation and exploitation, political misrepresentation, power and freedom and political disillusionment are evident in the text.
